When the term the
"other band" is used it refers to the Oriental Band, a
group of Egypt Shrine Nobles that dress and play Arabic
sounding music. If you listen closely you may hear
Disney's "Its a Small World" or maybe "Santa Claus Is
Coming To Town."
However, when you
hear the Oriental Band perform these tunes, there is no
doubt that the songs originated in the Middle East and
were once used to soothe skittish camels on a long
caravan in the desert. Like most of the Shrine Units,
the Oriental Band travels and relaxes with their ladies
along side of them. This makes for a strong closely knit
group. But, we welcome new members with open arms and
warm fellowship. We have some mighty good teachers, in
case you are worried about not playing an instrument. In
a short time you will be playing as well as one of the
finest playing Oriental Bands in the country. When you
compare our sounds, our superiority becomes clear.
